Abstract
IntegratedwithrelativeSHPBtests,theadiabaticsheardeformationofspecimenisobservedbasedonaseriesofnumericalsimulationsofSHPBtestusing921Asteelpureshearhat-
shaped
specimens.Theinitiationandthepropagationofanadiabaticshearband(ASB)andtherelativedistributionoftemperaturefieldinthespecimenareanalyzed.
ItisfoundthatASBisformedasthespread
ofanunstablezonewithhightemperatureandhighstraininthetwoendsofshearzone.Thespread
speedofanASBisrelatedtotheloadingrate,whilstthewidthofASBisnearlyindependentofthe
loadingrate,andequalstoabout70m,i.e.,thewidthofthedesignedshearzone.AlltheASBsare
deformedbandscorrespondingtovariousvaluesoftheloadingrate.
