Abstract
Abstract:Themovementofafreelyexpandingringwasanalyzedandtheradialvelocity-timecurveof
theexpandingOFHCcopperringwasexperimentallyobtainedbythelaserinterferencetechnique.
Thedifferentdatawindowswerechosenfromtheobtainedvelocity-timecurveandtheintercepteddata
inthedifferentwindowswerefittedbydifferentmethods.Thentheaccelerationswereacquiredfrom
thedifferentialequationsofthevelocities.Thestress-straincurvesweregainedbyprocessingthevelocitiesoftheringunderone-
dimensionalstressassumption.Resultsshowthatthereasonableselectionofdatawindowsisthecorrectdata-
processingfoundationforexpandingringtests.Whilethe
ranksoffittingexpressionsarehigherthan2,theobtainedstress-strainrelationwilllapseformally
fromphysicsrules.Butafterthedata,whicharesmoothedbyhigher-rankexpressions,areprocessed
bythedirectdifferencemethod,theprocesseddatacanreflectbettertherelationshipbetweenthevelocityhistoryoftheexpandingringanditsinstantaneousstresses.
Itexplainsthatthelapseoftheabovefittedstress-
strainrelationfromphysicsrulesdoesnotresultfromthedataprocessingmethods
butfromtheuncertaintyofthevelocitymeasurementatonepoint.
