Abstract
Inordertodeterminetheimpactdepthofaconicalprojectileimpactingsinglestiffenedplate
vertically,theresidualvelocityoftheprojectileafterpenetratingthestiffenedplatemustbeknown.
Theplugisformedaftertheconicalprojectilepenetratingthegrillageandthecrosssectionoftheplug
issimilartothatoftheconicalprojectile.Thepetalfailureisformedonthepanel.Bythesqueezeof
theconicalprojectile,thewebplateoccursplasticdeformationandthealarplatecausesturnover.
Basedonthefailuremodel,theenergyconsumptionmodeofthegrillagewasdetermined.Duringthe
perforationprocess,theenergyconsumptionofthegrillagewascompletedbysheardeformationofthe
plug,kineticenergyoftheplug,plasticextrudingdeformationofthegrillage,thepowerworkofthe
patels,thepropagationofradialcracksandpetalbending.Intheviewofenergy,theenergyformula
wasdeducedforeachenergydissipationmodeandtheenergyconsumedintheimpactprocesswasdetermined.
Theresidualvelocityandtheballisticlimitvelocityoftheprojectilewasdeducedbyenergy
conservationprinciple.Thecomparisonoftheresidualvelocitybetweentheanalyticalandthenumericalresultsisinexcellentagreement,
whichverifiestheaccuracyandreliabilityofthetheoreticalformula
