Abstract
Afunctionallylayeredhoneycombmodelisproposedtocontrolthedynamicenergyabsorptionofferedbyuniformhoneycombs.
Thein-planedynamicresponsesarecontrolledbythevariation
ofthecellradius.Thenumericalresultsshowthatthroughtheproperchoiceofthegradientcoefficient,
theinitialforcepeakcanbereducedsignificantly,andtheenergyabsorptioncanbecontrolled.
Moreover,thevaluesforthetransmittedstressesintotheprotectedstructurescanbegreatlyreduced.
Thesefindingscanprovidevaluablesuggestionsinthemulti-objectiveoptimaldesignofhoneycombs.
