Abstract
Forinvestigatingthe mechanicalbehaviorandself-sharpeningoftungsten-fiber/metallic
glass-matrixcompositematerial,quasi-statisticanddynamictestsaswellaspenetrationexperiments
ofcompositematerialpenetratorsintosteeltargetsareconducted.Thenthefailuremodesofcompositematerialwereidentifiedsystemicallybasedonmetallographicanalysisandcomparedwiththeresultsofquasi
staticanddynamictests.Finally,themechanismofself-sharpeningbehaviorofmaterial
wasdiscussed.Thequasi-statisticanddynamicbehaviorsandtheself-sharpeningphenomenaofmaterialwereobtained.
Itisfoundthatthematerialhasnotablestrainrateeffect,moreover,themainfailuremodesofthecompositematerialinthepenetrationprocessislocalizedshearfailureandfracture.
Therearefourshearfailuremodesforthecompositematerialandthreefailuremodesforthetungsten
fiber.
